I create authentic funeral ceremonies to shine a light on a life well lived. 

Saying goodbye can be a very personal and painful time. My role as an independent Funeral Celebrant is to take some of the weight off of your shoulders and help to create a send off that honours your person in the best possible way and provides you with some comfort as you say goodbye. 

A funeral is not only a time to grieve, but also a celebration of a life lived, no matter how long or short. I will create a cathartic celebration that captures the memory and life of your loved one. I'll spend time with you to find out more about them; what they were like, what their passions and interests were, what you loved about them and what they meant to you. I'll explore the important aspects of their life and the things that made them unique. I'll help you to choose any readings, songs, hymns or rituals that you would like to include and offer you tips on writing a tribute, if that's something you would like to do. 

Once I have gathered all of this vital information, I will put together a funeral ceremony that encapsulates your person. I'll work with you until it is just right.

 You may want a traditional funeral in a crematorium or place of worship or you may prefer something a little bit different. Did you know that you can hold a funeral ceremony with the coffin present pretty much anywhere? A licence is not needed; you just need permission from the venue. The funeral service can take place in a community centre, local pub, woodland, hotel or in your own garden - there are lots of options available.

A celebrant-led funeral can be religious or non-religious. It can be humanist or secular, or include a prayer or hymn that holds a particular meaning for the person who has died. The important thing is that it aligns with the beliefs and values of the person who has passed away. So if you want to give your loved one an authentic, genuine and memorable send off, please get in touch.

How it works

• You can contact me directly or inform your chosen Funeral Director that you would like to use my celebrant services.
• I will meet with you and your family to find out more about the person who has died. The meeting can be held at your home or at the Funeral Directors.
• Get to know as much about their life, who they were as a person and what they meant to you
• Give you the time and space to share stories of your loved one and reflect on any poignant memories or moments
• Craft a thoughtful ceremony that encapsulates your loved one and the life they lived
• Help to plan and create the order of service and any other elements you would like to include
• Discuss all aspects of the ceremony itself such as readings, music, hymns, dress code, the order of service, etc
• Explore ideas to make the funeral ceremony extra special and personalised
• Step in should anyone find it too difficult to talk on the day
• Liaise with the Funeral Director and anyone else involved in the funeral arrangements to ensure that everything runs smoothly on the day
• Provide you with a copy of the funeral script to keep as a momento, if you wish

Funeral Celebrancy Fees

My celebrant fee is £249 for funerals within a 30 mile radius of Eastbourne in East Sussex. For funerals outside of this area, please contact me for an individual quote.
